ONS develops studies and actions performed on the system and its agents that require intensive processing heavily based information on the use of IT.
The main results of the actions undertaken by the corporate IT department in 2014, stand out:
Advances in the use of Cloud Computing
The bad weather of recent years determined more complete and continuous studies of Newave and Decomp models, exceeding the operational capacity of installed processing at ONS. The need for care when using cloud computing required the development of an electronic portal services to engineers who, upon presentation of credentials, can run the provisioning of clusters in the cloud, automatically, in a controlled and an accounted way.
Assessment studies of the use of Organon cloud model were also conducted, mainly to support the planning of security zones studies.
Completed Application Systems Projects
Throughout 2014, important projects and development actions of systems support to purposive areas were completed, and contributed significantly to the management of data and information, among which we highlight:
- Web PMO Information Management System (WebPMO), which deals with the structure of the Monthly Operation Program by automating the configuration process of planning cycles, collecting the information needed to feed the manual process of implementing the computational model Decomp, control and monitoring of the validation process and publication of information associated with the PMO.
- Environment Analytical's New Integration System Facilities (BO-SINI), which deals with the provision of a universe of data coming from SINI and a set of queries and reports using tool for obtaining analytical information.
- System Proposals Consolidation Enhancements and Customization of Organon (SISCAO), which deals with greater control and centralization of requests for the development company of the computational model Organon.
- System of meteorological information from ONS (SIMONS), which was rebuilt to meet new functionalities required by the user area.
- System maintenance portal with access to the status of the demands and call opening, allowing greater visibility and transparency to demands of system maintenance services through an electronic service portal.
Systems Application Projects in Development
Throughout 2014, specifying actions and development support system designs to purposive areaswere conducted, among which:
- Customization of Management System Interventions (SICOP / Spdo), to replace the current Power System Control Interventions (CISE) and the Daily Operation Program (PDO) used in the Pre-Operation and real-time environment.
- BIPS Geographic Registration Information System (SINDAT), to offer the market a new way to query transmission facilities information and BIPS generation, from the mentioned facility planning to its geographical location.
- System for Bus Load Forecast Consolidation (SCPCB), for the management of necessary information for the bus load forecasting consolidation process for centrally electrical studies, enabling integration with other systems, reducing the allocated time for receiving and analyzing data and generating an improvement in the quality of the information sent to ONS study areas.
- Technical Base Register Management System (GERCAD), which will replace the current Registration Data Collection System (SISCO), to maintain the registration data of the Technical Database (BDT) and provide numerous enhancements, in particular the possibility of simultaneous operation of multiple users in different locations ONS.
- Adequacy of BDT to support the Entitlements Changes of BIPS Assets (ATASIN) in order to enable the owners agents, operators and / or guardians of BIPS's assets can be kept up to date with preservation of historical and validity of such information, through GERCAD application.
- Limits Management System (GERLIM) to systematize the workflow preparing Registration Documents (CDs), Operating Instructions (OI) and Operational Messages (MOPs), promoting collaborative work, the management of information limits and facilitating obtaining historical data.
- Flow Rates Forecast Management System (SGPV), which will support the flow forecasting process, making it traceable and reproducible by automating part of the process to reduce their risks, optimize involved resources and increase the quality of results.
- Purchasing Portal, aiming to improve execution and agility in the purchase process, covering all stages, since creating a request until the moment of choice of a contractor.
- Members Contribution Calculation System (SICONT), to automate the counting of votes and participation in monthly contribution of associated members, from information on the assets of these agents and that are available in ONS systems. It allows the provisioning of the results in an integrated manner, the billing system and improves the quality of maintenance of the information with the parameterization of inputs required for this process. This project also aims to support the conduct of the vote which takes place at ONS Meetings, managing the participation of associated members and their respective groups and displaying the results in real time to all present.
Advances in Information Safety
In 2014, the operation of Managed Security Services (MSS) began. This initiative began by consolidating monitoring services, support and incident response with a single partner, providing an improvement in the detection and response to cyber incidents, and 13% reduction in the total cost of previously existing contracts.
As part of efforts to prepare for 2014 World Cup in Brazil, it was conducted, in conjunction with the Operational Boardof Directors, a comprehensive work of Ethical Hacking on IT infrastructure and applications. From the vulnerabilities identified in this work, several measures were taken to minimize the exposure of ONS to digital threats.
Advances in Infrastructure
In 2014, a more effective management of software licensing was prioritized, with renegotiation of corporate contracts with Microsoft and IBM, beyond the beginning of IT asset management project.
The retrofit of Structured Cabling of CNOS was concluded, in Brasilia, in order to modernize the data transmission technologies and allow installation of new switches for the data center and the new IP telephone exchange, adding increased availability and performance for the services provided in the CNOS.Continuing the process of restructuring and modernization of IT assets, from the second half of 2014, work began on the installation and configuration of new servers and storage arrays that support the migration of Production Datacenter to Rio de Janeiro. With the collaborative participation of all Directors to test and approve the systems and applications in the new environment at the end of 2014, GIT completed the preparation steps required to enable Datacenter migration in January 2015.
Finally, the implementation of monitoring tools and management of corporate IT infrastructure, determined to optimize its operation, improvement and implementation of alarms, security levels and real-time visualization of its indicators.
