In 2012 criteria and procedures for performing functional tests on Special Protection Systems (SEPs) were defined and installed in the BIPS, to ensure its proper performance.

Based on these definitions, throughout 2012 and 2013,tests on 60 SEPs installed in various areas of the systemwere performed. In 2014, continuing the process, over 21 SEPs testswere conducted. For each test a report containing a brief description of the SEP, its purpose, carried out tests, abnormalities eventually found was generated, as well as the actions taken.

In addition, every April, an annual report of SEPs tests, consolidating in a single document all tests in the previous yearwas prepared.
