IIt was exercised by the CEO of PJM Interconnection, from the United States, Terry Boston. Dominique Maillard assumed the vice presidency CEO of Electricité Réseau de Transport of France. Hermes Chipp was elected to assume the presidency in 2014 the Director General of ONS.

The ONS continued to participate in this group, as the Operator considers it a relevant and unique forum to the treatment of matters of interest for the operation of the Brazilian power system board. The ONS Participated directly in the works developed about the issues that were prioritized, taking over the coordination on some of these issues:

• Integration of new renewable sources, wind forecast, booking and security;
• Systems of direct current, DC in extra-high voltage;
• Security and reliability, with a focus on dynamic system assessment, preventive measures in the planning phase of the operation;
• Capacity of power systems to withstand natural disasters;
• Application of Phasor Measurement Units (PMU);

Considering the expected evolution in the composition of supply and demand of electricity in the world, the ONS also monitors issues that will certainly have important repercussions for the operation of the BIPS in the future, such as:

• Development and penetration of electric vehicles;
• energy storage systems;
• Development of the concept and implementation of SmartGrid; and
• New models for load forecasting.
