ONS Institutional Relationship

In 2013, the ONS has maintained its institutional relationship with society to disseminate information on the most relevant issues related to the operation of the BIPS.

In the Electricity Sector Monitoring Committee, a liaison with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the National Electric Energy Agency allowed viable solutions to ensure the security of supply of electricity at the lowest cost.
Industry associations were also the focus of the relationship actions of the ONS. Lectures at Abrace, Abraceel, Abradee Abrage, Apine, Council of Infrastructure CNI, Cogen, FIRJAN, Fiesc and Fiesp were held - to present the results of studies carried out by the Operator. One of the main forums for relationships with associations was the 10th National Meeting of the Electricity Sector Agents, held in May, major industry event at which the ONS was present.

The detailing of the procedures and implementation of the Plan of Management of Communication in Crisis was continued, which aims to improve the communication of the Operator with the public aiming to preserve its image and reputation.

Aiming to keep society informed about the conditions of energy supply and the results of operation of the BIPS, the ONS maintained the relationship with the media, both through interviews of its General Director, as with the clarifications provided by the communication team. The percentage of favorable exposure of the ONS in print in 2013 was 87.8%.

Once more, the ONS website proved to be an important tool for the dissemination of the technical activities of the Operator and relationship with people online.

The Institutional Visitation Program has enabled students, technicians in the industry and other national and foreign visitors to be better acquainted with the activities of the ONS in the centralized operation of the BIPS. Groups of visitors from Germany, China, Portugal, the UK and Guyana were received at the Central Office. In the National System Operation Center in Brasilia, 22 visits were conducted with 282 visitors. In the Southeast Regional Operation Center in Rio de Janeiro, there were 28 technical visits, totaling 294 visitors. In Florianópolis, there were 48 technical visits in the year, with about 200 visitors, and in Recife, three.

The development of activities, studies and joint projects with the CCEE and the EPE followed what was established in the respective Operating Agreements and contributed to the increased efficiency of the Brazilian electricity sector.
