In 2013, ONS continued to implement a Measurement System Synchronized Phasor (SMSF) by installing PMUs (Phasor Measurement Units) in equipment and installation hardware infrastructure (Phasor Data Concentrators - PDC) and software for acquisition and analysis of synchrophasors in ONS premises. This technology allows the analysis of large events, contributing to the increased security of BIPS.

This year, ONS conducted tests with manufacturers and asked a set of transmitter agents to begin the process of installing PMUs in 31 BIPS substations to monitor 181 terminals of transmission lines included in the Plan for Modernization of Facilities (PMI) 2014 -2017.
